KDFWR recently conducted a series of previously-announced “Quail Summits” across the Commonwealth to provide information regarding past efforts and future plans to restore quail populations. The Department was also soliciting inputs from quail enthusiasts regarding these plans. The closest one to our area was in Elizabethtown. Your Chapter was well-represented even though the attendance was far short of what it should have been.

FLOYD’S FORK PARKLANDS HABITAT PROJECT is currently under consideration. Your Chapter has purchased a sprayer and donated it to the Parklands. The sprayer will be used for a variety of purposes including the enhancement of habitat for ground-nesting birds including Bobwhite quail. We are currently in the preliminary stages of developing a habitat project that is specifically focused on quail. Site selection and scope of the project TBD. More info will be provided as the project gains momentum.
SEED FOR HABITAT was distributed at our last meeting. We have additional bags of milo available and will have them for you at the next meeting. Plan to arrive between 6:00 and 6:45 if you wish to pick up free 50 lb. bags of milo. These planting will provide winter cover and food for quail and other ground-nesting birds. Deer and turkey will also benefit from your plantings.
